Dive deeper into the world of storm chasing with Storm Chasing for Science! This 7-day Colorado tour not only offers thrilling chases, but also teaches you the science behind severe storms and lets you take part in real weather research.

Led by our experienced meteorologist Dallas McKinney, you’ll join us in releasing windsondes (weather balloons) directly into storms to capture critical data. This hands-on process is part of our mission to further severe weather research, and as a participant, you’ll be involved in launching, tracking, and analyzing the data these instruments collect. It’s an experience you won’t find on any other storm chasing tour.

In addition to the research, this tour is designed to teach you the ins and outs of storm forecasting and meteorology. Dallas will guide you through in-depth forecast discussions, hands-on activities like weather map analysis, and lessons on severe storm setups—ensuring you gain both an understanding of the science and the adrenaline of the chase.

The central and northern Plains during this time of year offer prime conditions for storm chasing, giving you plenty of opportunities to apply what you learn while witnessing nature’s raw power up close.
